Arctic Gourmet Cabin
At Arctic Gourmet Cabin, we want to invite guests from all over the world to take part in an exclusive stay in the wilderness in comfortable cottages. A gourmet experience beyond the ordinary in a small restaurant where the chef, Johan, cooks for the guests while he shares his knowledge and experiences of the area and life above the Arctic Circle.
Our Story
Johan Löfgren was a chef at Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi when he met Malin Löfgren who worked there as a waitress. While Malin studied to become a sommelier, they fell in love with a small house outside of Kiruna which they also bought.
After many years of working in big hotels, Johan decided to start his own business and with the help of Malin, Arctic Gourmet Cabin came to life. In the village of Kaalasjärvi outside Kiruna, their friends and family assisted in hand building both cabins as well as the restaurant.
Now Johan, Malin and their family of three kids, one dog and one cat live next to the cabins, offering a unique experience where you and your loved ones can unplug and re-imagine.
“We want to give guests genuine food and a total experience. The location is unique in the middle of nowhere with a view of the lake and mountains. Here at Kaalasjärvi lake just before the Kalixälven river begins, there are no neighbors nearby, and with a little luck you can see the Northern Lights.”
Our Vision
Our vision is to offer relaxing accommodation, close to nature and the tranquility of Norrland, but with all the comforts today's travelers can wish for. To offer personal service with that little extra, sustainably produced, and cooked food in menus that satisfy your taste buds. To be a family business with a sustainable season throughout the year with a healthy balance of work and family life.

We are located in Sweden’s geographically largest municipality Kiruna, where the picturesque low mountain landscapes offer a sharp contrast to most visitors’ hectic everyday lives. A large part of our destination’s allure is the gourmet experience cooked in front of the guests in our cozy restaurant with organic and local products and flavors.”
